The Milwaukee Brewers finally held a press conference to introduce Juergen Kley as their new GM.

There was a lot of criticism in the media, but Brewers owner San Ramon defended this decision. He said he wanted to give Kley a few days to get familiar with the situation in Milwaukee.

Phillies (CBL NEWS)
12 years in the CBLR, 7 trips to the playoffs, 3 trips to the World Series, 0 Championships.

Yet another season has come to an end in Philly with no parade down Broad Street.  Yet another exciting season ends in disappointment.  The Phillies have been one of the more successful teams in the CBLR since its inception. Phillies Steamroll, Indians Stagger
EricW (CBL NEWS)
The 1980 World Series is set, but our participants enter on vastly different paths. The Philadelphia Phillies find themselves undefeated in the postseason, blowing away their NL playoff competition in 7 straight games.

Cleveland, on the other hand, has fallen behind 2-1 in both series, having to come from behind, and sports a Game 1 pitcher who is 0-3 with an ERA near 10.00. "We just ha...

Indians victorious in 1980!

For a 2nd consecutive year, the World Series began with one team undefeated in the postseason. In 1979 it was the Detroit Tigers, who managed 10 straight wins before falling in 4 straight, just 1 short of the mark. 1980 saw a similarly incredible occurrence, as the Philadelphia Phillies entered on the hotstreak, jumping out to a 2-0 World Series lead and 9-0 playoff mark, before the powerful bats of the Cleveland Indians awoke and reeled of 4 straight victories to claim the 1980 World Series Crown. Michael Jack Schmidt (left) got things started in game 3, powering 2 bombs out of the yard to propel the Indians to the win.

In the statistical wars, Dave Kingman (right) won the AL HR and RBI crowns with an amazing 50 and 145, respectively. The Twins are glad to have him. Rickey Henderson was the AL Batting champ with a .343 mark, also leading in hits (243) and runs (148) leading off the powerful Cleveland offense. George Brett of the Phillies was the NL Batting champ (.364) and shared the RBI crown with Tony Armas (ATL) and Reggie Smith (PIT), all with 114. Armas's 42 HR led the NL as well.

Ron Guidry (MON) won 23 to pace the NL, while Bob Knepper (BAL) won an amazing 28 in the AL. Bostons Butcher (John) was the AL ERA Champ (left) at 2.32. Bruce Berenyi of the Pirates led the NL at 2.62.
